It's Killua and Gon from Hunter x Hunter! This, my friends, is ALL COLOURED PENCIL!! Mwahahahaha. It's sad that so many people these days just go the easy way out and use either digital or paint. Coloured pencil is a very difficult media, but it is my favourite to look at when handled well. So here you have it. This is me expressing my love for coloured pencil, nature, and... KiluxGon...? (Don't worry it's innocent. Killua is just poking Gon with a plant called "cat-teaser." lol) To colour, it took about 9 hrs O_o but I work only in 2 hrs shifts, so it doesn't feel like it took long at all ^_^;

I have lots to say now, so you can skip this next part:
Most of the reference I had is from my area. I LOOOVE moss (as if you can't tell), and I have always wanted to do a great sunset scene in the forest. Whenever I go for a walk with our dogs, I look for interesting plants to try and put in a picture. Those little orange-red mushrooms grow near a river, and I have seen giant fallen trees that have dark green moss growing just in the cracks of the bark. The rocks around here are so pretty too. In the shade, they receive a blue tint, and then they get covered by various types of green and turquois moss. :D Cat-teasers just happen to grow in my yard... I love the colour of those weeds in the fall. Their tips turn a vivid orange-brown, while the seeds are green. It's so preeetty XD (and my favourite teacher had eyes that colour, because he's so cool....)
I actually have a little confession to make. There are 2 parts to this picture tht are NOT coloured pencil... T T First is the outline, which is ink, and second is I had to touch up Killua's eyes in paint because I wanted it to have a yellow high light, but I had already used too much black ink... There was so much preparation for this picture! I even bought a book on "How to Use Colour" because I'm just such a loser and stink at choosing the right colour. Man, that book was my salvation!! *holy lights* The foreground I LOVE, but the farthest background is wierd... I was so happy to draw good clothes! I discovered that by adding just a bit of yellow to everything really makes it pop out and live in harmony with the rest of the picture (taking advise for once---my colour told me it would work, and I actually trusted it. Marlee: Really? Are you sure?? Colour Book: Yeees, have faith in me, hahaha).
*cough cough* So yeah, please enjoy this picture, because I am so proud of it and I love the characters XD

*stares* Oh my goddess...This is, like, my life goal right here, to be able to draw a background as absolutely amazing as that. None of the ones i've done even come close, and I try really hard, its sad. But wow, all the color and the details, it looks so lifelike! And your shading! I envy your shadows and shading to no end! How long did it take you to color?

Tah-heh *beaming* It took about 9 hrs to colour, but I work in shifts of just 2 hrs each (because I have a surprisingly low attention span for an artist). I had so much fun with this. I love moss. I made a world out of moss in this picture.... in real life, I don't believe such large quantities exist lol XD And I was able to find ref pics by typing "moss tree" on yahoo.com pufufu That's about it. I think this pic is the result of not doing anything in colour for 3 months and wanting to really do something to impress my friends (beacuse they draw so well and always colour their pics v )
Thanks so much for the comment :heart:

9 hours? Wow....Maybe thats why mine dont come out nearly that good, I just dont have anywhere near that kind of patience. I love drawing moss on stuff too, in all my forest pictures, like my one I did for coloring practice with the girl with wierd color wings, and the one I did with the two elf people and the wolf and giant bird, there's always moss on stuff. Its just so much fun to add to a picture, ne? ^^
